How to Build an MVP in 6 Weeks: The Codebudz Process
Building an MVP doesn't have to take months. Here's the exact 6-week process we use at Codebudz to take startups from idea to App Store — on time and on budget.
Every week a startup spends building the wrong thing is a week of runway burned. The MVP (Minimum Viable Product) exists to solve exactly this problem — get a working product in front of real users as fast as possible, learn from their feedback, and iterate. At Codebudz, we've refined a 6-week process that consistently takes founders from idea to App Store without the bloat and delays that plague most development agencies.
Week 1: Discovery & Planning
We start with a structured discovery session — typically 2–3 hours — where we map out your users, their core problems, and the features that directly solve those problems. We define the MVP scope ruthlessly: everything that can be cut without breaking the core value proposition gets cut. By the end of Week 1, you have a feature list, user flow diagram, and a clear definition of what "done" looks like.
Week 2: UI/UX Design
Using Figma, we design every screen your users will see — from onboarding to core features to edge cases. We don't start coding until the design is signed off. This prevents costly mid-development changes and ensures the development team has a clear spec to work from. You'll see wireframes on Day 1 of Week 2 and high-fidelity designs by Day 5.
Week 3–4: Development
With designs locked, development sprints begin. We use React Native for mobile (covering both iOS and Android from one codebase) and Next.js for web platforms. We build in two-day sprints with daily check-ins, so you always know exactly what's been built. Backend APIs, database setup, third-party integrations (payments, maps, notifications) all happen in this phase.
Week 5: Testing & QA
Week 5 is dedicated to quality assurance. We test across devices (iPhone, Android, various screen sizes), fix bugs, and stress-test the app with real-world usage scenarios. We also do user acceptance testing — walking through the complete user journey to ensure every flow works as designed. No feature ships without passing QA.
Week 6: Launch & App Store Submission
We prepare your App Store and Google Play listings — screenshots, descriptions, keywords — and submit for review. Apple review takes 1–3 days, Google Play is typically same-day. We handle the entire submission process and remain on call for any last-minute review feedback. By the end of Week 6, your app is live.
Why 6 Weeks and Not 3 Months?
Most agencies take 3–6 months because they over-engineer, add unnecessary features, and lack a clear process. Our 6-week timeline works because we force scope discipline from Day 1, we use proven technology (React Native, Next.js), and we have a team that has done this 50+ times. Every day of delay is a day your competitors get ahead — speed is a competitive advantage for startups.
